又是橙黄桔绿时



偶然一次搜索"物理",看到昌海大哥的网站,
印象最深他大一就给大三的讲矩阵力学.
从此就比较关注这里.
SAGE大哥的大著颇有见地,
弦论的文章是国内论坛无法相比的
SAGE大哥对国内基础科学教育的批判确实符合我目前
所看到的.
对高能很感兴趣的,也不想在中国混过几年无所获.
但出国却不是件易事.
身边的人转行的多,
寥落的大四,只能在这里寻觅有知音的温暖.

谢谢SAGE大哥的关心.我现在跟老师做粒子物理方面的BS方程的一点工作,见识还是非常浅薄. 曾经想深入研究CP VIOLATION.大的方面,高能的分支目前对我都比较有吸引力.但对具体情况不太了解.真想听听SAGE大哥的建议.

CP violation is a big direction. You could worry about the test of CP violation in the meson system. The B-factories still have data coming. You could also pay attention to the CP violation in the neutrino sector, which will be much harder to determine. On the other hand, you could also worry about models of CP violation, speculating its origin.

On the other hand, I have my own reservation for studying CP violation. we can have a lot of theories and models as to where it comes from. on the other hand, I do not see anyway of testing them for certain. therefore, it seems to me they are just speculations. A similar comment would apply to general flavor physics.

Have you been aware of physics associated with electroweak symmetry breaking? I consider that to be a more interesting direction.

Thanks indeed. However what is electroweak symmetry violation?
是不是Higgs 场的自发对称破缺?我只接触了一些皮毛.
另外,总体来说,Standard Model的前景如何.请大哥指教.

what is electroweak symmetry violation?

Standard model has a SU(2)_L X U(1)_Y
gauge symmetry, which is spontaneously broken to E&M. this is called electroweak symmetry.

是不是Higgs 场的自发对称破缺?

this is only one way to break electroweak symmetry.

另外,总体来说,Standard Model的前景如何.请大哥指教.

standard model is very well tested. this only thing that is still missing is the mechanism of electroweak symmetry breaking: whether it is through a Higgs field or not. The possible physics about the electroweak symmetry breaking is one of the major directions of current research.

Of course, Standard Model by itself does not explain its flavor structure and CP violation. This is also an active area of research. On the other hand, I personally do not see it has a very bright future unless we are very lucky.

Of course, Standard Model does not include gravity and does not completely explain cosmology. these are all possible areas to devote your attention.
