Morse理论被推广到很多方面。至少可以列出十个。楼主的idea极有可能是已有的。

楼主可否稍稍多说几句，也许我可以给点建议。
Morse理论的方方面面太多，不可能短时间完全搞清楚的。
最好是先看Milnor的书"Morse theory"第一章，有中译本。
接下来就要看楼主希望做什么以及兴趣何在了。
比如，有Witten的理论，有Bott的等变Morse理论，Floer同调等。
还有无限维的Morse理论，其主要的用处是在于偏微分方程。
但是，这些咚咚，现在都被认为是非常经典的理论。
