我以前一直以为1984像动物庄园、飞跃疯人院一样是crap，可是昨天读了之后，才发现我完全错了。

读到某某人问主角愿不愿意为了推翻政府无恶不作的时候，我觉得很好笑----看来又是一本垃圾。后面会是什么？成功推翻然后循环？

读到那本书的论证的时候，我觉得有点儿意思了，开始像话了。

读到结局的时候，我一度以为自己在看日本漫画......与日本漫画反派的境界不同在于，although it sound ridiculous at first sight, it does make sense when you think about it. 当然，这里不会有可笑的"爱与正义"，"星空与道德"。

所以我对作者很有敬意了，这绝不是一本落俗套的书，不是一本靠降低书中人物智商来说理的书，不是一本停留在道德与价值上纠缠不清的书，是一本在更高的层面看问题，真正有作者的思考，值得令读者思考的书。

I was motivated to read this famous George Orwell book when I re-watched the famous 1996 PBS video "Triumph of the Nerds" in 2001, but I had too many things to read at that time. Fortunately, a local public library has the audio book on CD, so I chose to listen to the whole book while driving, it was a lot of fun!

I like both "1984" and "Animal Farm" (both were "read" by my ears:-) and I probably prefer the latter to some extent. For those who are interested to know how Apple CEO Steve Jobs quoted George Orwell, here is the transcript of the third episode of "Triumph of the Nerds":

George Orwell's book was written in 1948, he reversed the two digits "48" to intend some kind of predictions. Steve Jobs' remarks were made exactly in 1984 when Apple launched its landmark GUI computer Macintosh (named after a special kind of Scottish apple), it was a smart and timely quote of Orwell.

1984 is not about any political system. It's about the nature of humanity, the inherent weakness and falseness of human beings, which have deeply bother me ever since I was a child.

On the other hand, all political fables are crap. They tend to oversimplify various issues and mislead ignorant people.
