Is it fortunate or unfortunate that these profound theories are basically irrelevant to most most physics and other branches of knowledge in general?

A good mathematical theory should be more than merely a pile of gaming rules. It should offer an arsenal of powerful implements. "Good" in math should not mean "hard" or "useful in exotic conditions only".

Therefore, to "spread the good news" of cohomologies, Kanex should do a little popularizing job to show that these cohomologies are also useful in less seclusive avenues such as in ordinary quantum mechanics, solid state physics or better in biology, medicine and social sciences. I was very much impressed when supersymmetry theory was demonstrated to solve a 1D quantum mechanics problem. I believe that that demonstration changed the opinion of many physicists on that otherwise rather "crazy" or "insulated" theory and helped a lot to disseminate supersymmetry theory among physicists and scientists in other fields.
